New Bruce Springsteen Song ‘Repo Man’ from ‘The Lost Albums’

Renowned musician Bruce Springsteen has unveiled yet another captivating track from his much-anticipated box set, Tracks II: The Lost Albums, exciting fans and enthusiasts alike.

The newly released song, titled “Repo Man,” represents the fourth advance track from this extensive collection, which compiles seven previously unreleased albums that span from 1983 onwards. This particular track hails from the mid-’90s album Somewhere North of Nashville, providing a glimpse into Springsteen’s diverse musical journey during that era.

The recording of this album coincided with the sessions for The Ghost of Tom Joad in the summer of 1995. Notable members of the legendary E Street Band, including Danny Federici and Garry Tallent, contribute their talents to this song, alongside accomplished musicians like Gary Mallaber, Marty Rifkin, and Soozie Tyrell.

Fans can listen to the energetic bar-band anthem “Repo Man” below, showcasing Springsteen’s signature sound.

In a recent press release, Springsteen shared insights into the creative process behind this song, stating, “What happened was I wrote all these country songs at the same time I wrote The Ghost of Tom Joad. Those sessions completely overlap each other. I’m singing ‘Repo Man’ in the afternoon and ‘The Line’ at night. So the country record got made right along with The Ghost of Tom Joad.”

Springsteen elaborated on the influence of his earlier work, mentioning, “‘Streets of Philadelphia’ got me connected to my socially conscious or topical songwriting. So that’s where The Ghost of Tom Joad came from. But at the same time, I had this country streak that was also running through those sessions, and I ended up making a country record on the side.”

The album Somewhere North of Nashville was meticulously recorded live in the studio alongside the backing band, showcasing an authentic sound. It features two tracks that were initially recorded during the Born in the U.S.A. sessions over a decade prior: “Stand on It” and “Janey Don’t You Lose Heart.” Both of these tracks were later released as B-sides in the mid-’80s, adding to the album’s historical significance.
