Marvin Sapp Previews His Upcoming Track “Close The Door”
On Wednesday (April 16), Marvin Sapp gave fans a sneak peek of his anticipated new music. It seems that his viral donation request has inspired him to step back into the recording booth. He shared the cover art along with a snippet of the vocals for ‘Close The Door’ on his Instagram page. In his post, the pastor expressed that this record reflects the challenges he has faced over the past few weeks and serves as a celebration of resilience and survival.
“The last few weeks have been tough. Misunderstood, misrepresented, misinterpreted, and even maligned. But I’ve learned that when life hands you lemons, you don’t just make lemonade… you build the lemonade company. And that’s exactly what I’ve done,” Marvin Sapp wrote. He added, “‘Close the Door’ isn’t just a song; it’s a soundtrack for survival and empowerment.”
The highly anticipated song is scheduled to be released on Good Friday (April 18). Why this date? Marvin explained, “Just like [Jesus Christ] closed the door on death, Hell, and the grave, I’m closing the door on the noise, the pain, and everything that tried to break me.” Furthermore, he emphasized that ‘Close The Door’ is designed to “bless” listeners with its powerful message.
“I believe that with everything in me. My assignment in this season through this song is to help you close the door too,” the gospel singer affirmed.
Regarding the song’s content, it appears that Marvin has incorporated samples from the viral video where he addressed the ushers at the 2024 PAW Convention in Baltimore. Although the conference occurred in July, the video of Sapp did not emerge until late March 2025. Take a listen to the preview below!

The Truth Behind Marvin Sapp’s Donation Demands
As observed, several social media users are labeling ‘Close The Door’ as another attempt at a money grab. However, it’s essential to highlight that Marvin Sapp has already addressed the fate of the donations he requested from the congregation, clergy, and choir at the conference. On March 31, he appeared on the ‘Rickey Smiley Morning Show’ to clarify the narratives circulating online. Sapp refuted claims of locking the venue doors, stating he only instructed the ushers to close them.
Additionally, Sapp claimed that the funds donated by the congregation and others at his request were allocated back to the church and its conference budget. He stressed that he did not personally benefit financially from the viral incident, asserting that his career has been prosperous enough independently.
“I’m not walking around here trying to be a pimp. I’m not trying to take advantage of people. That’s never been my passion. I’m serious about ministry,” Marvin Sapp articulated during the morning show.
During that same conversation, Sapp also alleged that he had been receiving death threats, experiencing disturbances at his church, and expressed that his family was concerned for his safety.
