After a successful tour across the U.K. and Europe this past summer, the iconic Sex Pistols are set to bring their electrifying energy to North America, although without their original frontman, Johnny Rotten. This highly anticipated tour features the surviving members of the band, including Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock, along with the talented Frank Carter as the new lead vocalist. The North American performances will kick off in mid-September and will run for a thrilling four weeks, marking the Sex Pistols‘ first series of U.S. shows since 2003, a long-awaited return for fans.
The legendary punk rock group reconnected last year with Frank Carter, known for his work with the English band Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes. In contrast, Rotten, whose real name is John Lydon, has chosen not to participate in recent projects involving his former bandmates, including a 2022 television series that showcased their storied legacy. This decision has sparked considerable conversation among fans and critics alike.

What started as a one-off reunion featuring the original three members and Carter has now evolved into a full-fledged tour, captivating audiences across Europe. During these performances, the band will deliver a live rendition of their seminal 1977 album, Never Mind the Bollocks Here’s the Sex Pistols, showcasing its tracks in their entirety, alongside a selection of other classic hits that defined the punk rock genre.
Lydon has expressed his feelings about the current tour, labeling the performances as “karaoke.” He stated, “When I first learned that the Sex Pistols were touring this year without my involvement, it really upset me. I felt frustrated and thought that they were undermining the essence of what made the Pistols special by removing the core point and purpose of our music and message.”
