There’s no doubt that Only Murders in the Building is one of the best shows on streaming this decade so far. Way back in 2021, as true crime podcasts were hitting their peak, John Hoffman and Hollywood comedy icon Steve Martin capitalized on the phenomenon with this tale of three strangers (Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez) with a shared love for true-crime podcasts, who unite to investigate a string of suspicious murders close to home.
Earning 719 million minutes viewed during its debut week, the premiere of OMITB proved instantly that this would be an enormous hit for Hulu. Each season since seemed to up the game in terms of quality and star power, with the Season 4 finale scoring 599 million viewing minutes, and the most recent Season 5 finale earning 416 million viewing minutes and ranking as the seventh most-watched streaming original series of that week. Now we are nearing the return of the gang, including Meryl Streep‘s Loretta Durkin, for the sixth season of the murder mystery series, which is scheduled to hit Hulu on December 8.
After five seasons in and around the Arconia — ignoring a brief trip to Los Angeles in Season 4 — everything is set to change for the sixth season as the gang head to London for a brand-new mystery. However, it seems that it isn’t just on-screen locations that will be changing for the show. According to a new exclusive report via Deadline, the writers’ room of OMITB is moving to New York, away from their residence in Los Angeles. Although the series has not been renewed for a seventh season, there is little doubt that an announcement is on the way.
