“Oh, my gosh. It’s amazing. It’s amazing,” Hathaway said when host Seth Meyers asked how she was feeling.
“The Odyssey” star then revealed that she and Shulman never expected the pregnancy to happen when it did.
“I mean, we knew what we were doing, but we were so shocked it worked,” Hathaway joked, drawing laughs from the audience.
She explained that the surprise inspired the baby’s special nickname.
“We were so shocked it went this way, so we’re calling this one our buzzer-beater,” she said.
Hathaway and Shulman are already parents to two sons, Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6. The actress announced her pregnancy in June through a heartwarming Instagram video.
The clip showed Hathaway wearing a flowing white dress as she gently cradled her baby bump. She smiled warmly before hugging her stomach and walking out of the frame. She captioned the post, “x Baby, I’m yours x.”
Shortly after the announcement, a source told People that Hathaway has shifted her attention toward spending quality time with her family before welcoming baby No. 3.
The insider said the actress remains grateful for her successful career but values her personal life just as much. According to the source, Hathaway also wanted to keep the focus on “The Devil Wears Prada 2” during its press tour instead of announcing her pregnancy.
The source added that Hathaway prefers to separate her professional and personal life whenever possible. She wanted to share the happy news only when she felt the timing was right.
