Dwight Eubanks Courageously Shares His Cancer Diagnosis
In an exclusive conversation with People, Dwight explained that he first discovered his diagnosis earlier this year while undergoing routine bloodwork at a health fair organized by his church community. Following this, a follow-up PSA test conducted in April confirmed the diagnosis of prostate cancer. The 64-year-old expressed feelings of “shock” and “anger,” admitting that just hearing the word “cancer” left him feeling “emotionally a wreck.” He reflected on family history, noting that his grandfather also battled prostate cancer. However, Dwight had previously believed he was not at risk, given that the family history was primarily on his mother’s side.
“When you hear the word cancer, you freak out. I’m human. Society has conditioned us to view cancer as something devastating, often implying limited time left to live. Naturally, I panicked, and I believe I am still in that state of shock.”

However, a blood test conducted in 2022, which indicated elevated PSA levels, was unfortunately overlooked by his physician—a mistake that Dwight found deeply upsetting. Now, he is actively collaborating with a dedicated medical team to create a comprehensive treatment plan. In addition, Dwight is committed to raising awareness about prostate cancer and has become the new brand ambassador for ZERO Prostate Cancer.
After witnessing a close friend’s harrowing battle with prostate cancer just four years ago, Dwight is resolutely determined to prevent a similar experience for himself. The former RHOA star has indicated that he is not currently planning to undergo a prostatectomy and is carefully considering his options in consultation with his healthcare team.
“We are exploring various possibilities to determine the best course of action, but we have not finalized our decision yet,” he stated.
Supported by a team of four medical professionals, including two urologists, a specialist, and his family physician, Dwight expresses gratitude for the care he is receiving and feels reassured by the support surrounding him.
“We are going to figure it out together,” he emphasized.
