It seems that it took a while for the tables to turn between Adele and Rich Paul.
Indeed, after the 16-time Grammy winner met the sports agent through a friend, he said their relationship was strictly platonic for “some time” because he didn’t want to create an awkward dynamic.
“I never tried to get fresh with people that’s in comfortable circles because they always have to deal with that, so that was never my thing,” Paul told Craig Melvin on the June 9 episode of the Glass Half Full podcast. “It was really something that happened very organically, really.”
And though the 45-year-old—who was first romantically linked to the singer in 2021—typically keeps details of his romance private, he clarified that his relationship with his fiancée didn’t start with their friends setting them up.
“We just used to always see each other, laugh and joke,” he continued. “It was just cordial, really, just cordial. Until it became not so cordial. Until I became a person of interest.”
Plus, the Klutch Sports Group founder—who reps stars like LeBron James, Jalen Hurts and A’ja Wilson—admitted he wasn’t necessarily a fan of Adele’s music before they became acquainted.
