Ryan Lochte Addresses Backlash About Estranged Wife Kayla and Selling His Olympic Gold Medals
Ryan Lochte is experiencing significant changes in his life.
More than a year after his wife Kayla Reid filed for divorce after seven years of marriage, the 12-time Olympic medalist has announced a career shift, taking on the role of assistant coach for Missouri State University’s swim team.
However, this new position is not Ryan’s only significant transformation. In an Instagram video where he revealed his coaching role, the swimmer looked quite different compared to his appearance during the 2016 Rio Olympics.
At 41 years old—father to Caiden, 8, Liv, 7, and Georgia, 2, with Kayla—he has traded his clean-shaven look and styled hair for scruffy facial hair and a spiked-up hairstyle.
Additionally, Ryan’s interests have evolved over time.
“Over the last couple of years, something so unexpected happened,” he stated in the May 10 video. “I might actually be more passionate about coaching than competing. Don’t get me wrong, I had a pretty good swimming career, but honestly, I think I might even be a better swim coach.”
