Shakira is ready to discuss her breakup from Gerard Piqué whenever, wherever.
The “Whenever, Wherever” singer—who shares children Milan, 13, and Sasha, 11, with the retired professional soccer player—opened up about the couple’s 2022 split after 11 years together.
At that time, Shakira, 49, shared that she was experiencing “the darkest moment—when I saw the dissolution of my family,” she told The Times in an interview published on May 22, “the family that I had dreamt to keep forever.”
While coping with the breakup, the Grammy winner was also supporting her father, according to the outlet, who suffered a severe fall shortly after flying to Barcelona to be by his daughter’s side following the split.
“I’ve been through so much pain, but it has made me perhaps in an unforeseen way a wiser person—or stronger, at least,” Shakira (born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll) explained. “They say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and it is true. It’s amazing to learn that humans have a resilience that we can resort to at any moment in our lives.”
