Leah McKendrick has been confirmed as the writer and director for the Shania Twain movie, according to reports from Deadline. The official title for the biopic is Shania.
Regarding McKendrick, she is an actor, screenwriter, director, and singer. As an actress, she has appeared in films such as Say Yes, All I Need, M.F.A., and Scrambled, where she also took on the role of director.
Scrambled received positive reviews from both critics and audiences. It currently boasts a Tomatometer score of 94% and a Popcornmeter score of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. It gained significant acclaim at the 2023 SXSW festival. Subsequently, Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions released the comedy theatrically in early 2024.
McKendrick’s next directorial project will be released later this June. Titled Voicemails for Isabelle, this romantic comedy will premiere on Netflix on June 19, 2026.
