Sheinelle Jones Encourages Positive Body Image for Daughter Clara

“The way I want her to live is how I’m trying to live, right?” Sheinelle shared. “So I don’t want to look in the mirror and disparage the body that’s kept me healthy.”

Both Sheinelle and Jenna feel inspired by actress Tracee Ellis Ross, who has spoken about being a “chooser” in her love life, instead of the notion of “waiting to be saved,” such as in fairytales.

For Jenna, who shares Mila, 13, Poppy, 10, and Hal, 6, with husband Henry Hager, the idea of being a “chooser” extends beyond relationships and can be applied to other situations, including choosing where to attend high school or college.

“I have told my girls that,” she explained, “because what it does is it empowers women to think about what they want, in everything, not just in romantic relationships. ‘This is up to you. You’re the chooser.’”

While Mila is only a tween, Jenna noted that it’s “never too early” to have important conversations about making one’s own choices.
