Slipknot Confirms Sid Wilson’s Departure After 28 Years

Heavy Metal Band Slipknot Announces They’ve “Parted Ways” With Sid Wilson After Exit Rumors

Sid Wilson’s time in Slipknot has come to an end.

The musician—who joined the heavy metal band in 1998—will no longer be a part of the group, his bandmates confirmed.

“Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson,” the band wrote in a statement shared to the official Instagram account for the rockers’ music festival Knotfest on August 14. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

They added in the caption, “Slipknot have parted ways with Sid Wilson. The announcement could briefly be found on the band’s website.”

E! News has reached out to a rep for Wilson but has not yet heard back.

Though Wilson has not publicly commented on his exit, the announcement comes weeks after reports surfaced that the DJ was allegedly fired from the band—which also includes percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan, singer Corey Taylor and guitarists Mick Thomson and James Root—after 28 years as their turntablist.

Shortly after, Root seemingly addressed the chatter.

“Don’t believe everything you read,” Root wrote on Instagram Stories on July 31. “Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”
