Spider-Man and Superman‘s live-action meeting comes to life in crossover art.
Spider-Man is Marvel’s most popular hero, while Superman represents what a superhero means, not only in the world of DC Comics but in comic books as a whole. As expected, there have been several live-action iterations of Superman, with Spider-Man having three major cinematic actors. Now, the Man of Steel is played by David Corenswet, while Peter Parker is embodied by Tom Holland.
The MCU Spider-Man movies are some of the best and highest-grossing in the franchise. As for James Gunn’s Superman movie, it was a major box office hit, with a sequel, Man of Tomorrow, already on the way for a 2027 release. Recently, Spider-Man and Superman crossed over in the comics, which started a movement among fans to see them do the same in live-action.
On Instagram, @odimi_ imagined what Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and David Corenswet’s Superman meeting in live-action would look like.
The Marvel and DC crossover fan art features the actors shaking hands as comics-accurate versions of Peter Parker and Clark Kent, as well as standing next to one another in their latest MCU and DCU superhero costumes. When put next to each other, it just feels like Spider-Man and Superman were made to co-exist.
Spider-Man & Superman Crossing Over Would Be Perfect
There are many reasons why Holland’s Spider-Man and Corenswet’s Superman coming together would be perfect. For instance, it could serve as a way for Marvel to finally tap into Peter Parker’s Daily Bugle work from the comics, as it would be interesting to see how Peter and Clark Kent’s approaches to journalism would compare and contrast.
In terms of personality, Holland’s Spider-Man and Corenswet’s Superman are two optimistic heroes with a good sense of humor. That said, they have both endured their share of trauma and dark moments, meaning they could bond over things like Aunt May’s death and Superman finding out his Kryptonian parents were not the good guys. Also, visually, their costumes look amazing side by side.
Could Marvel And DC Ever Cross Over In Live-Action?
At the time of writing, there is no MCU and DCU crossover on the way. Realistically, such an event should be several years away, as James Gunn’s DC Universe has only released a single movie so far, Superman, and is thus establishing itself. However, a live-action Marvel and DC crossover has already almost happened, as Gunn tried to get Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool in Peacemaker season 2.
That suggests that the possibility of a crossover, should legal issues be cleared, is very much on the studios’ minds. In the past, Gunn revealed that he “would be lying to say that we haven’t discussed it.” If a DC and Marvel crossover were to happen in live-action, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and David Corenswet’s Superman, two heroes with similar personalities and key to their franchises, are the perfect candidates.
