Hallmark actress Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe has revealed her diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer.

The 44-year-old star has appeared in numerous projects over the years, including Final Destination 3, The L Word, and more. Recently, she has become a regular on the Hallmark channel, both as an actor and a director.

She shared a heartfelt personal essay with People about her recent diagnosis and its impact on her family, which includes her husband, Miko Tomasevich, and their two children.

“In February of 2025, while preparing one morning, I noticed a large mass in my right breast. In that moment, everything else faded away. Initially, I thought I had sprained a muscle while exercising. To be cautious, I immediately visited my doctor who ordered a mammogram and guided ultrasound, but nothing was found,” she writes.

However, months later, the mass remained and had shifted positions, prompting Crystal to return to her doctor.

“The mass measured 10 centimeters. This time, my doctor was not so casual; I was quickly scheduled for a blind biopsy. After what felt like an eternity, the doctor gently placed his hand on my arm and said, ‘Honey, I can’t be sure, but this feels like cancer,’” the Signed, Sealed, Delivered actress recalled.

A few days later, she received the diagnosis of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.

The rest of the essay outlines her treatment plan and expresses her gratitude toward her family and the people at Hallmark who have supported her throughout this journey.

“If you’re facing a difficult path too, just know you’re not alone. We may not choose what happens to us, but we can choose how we respond. And I’m responding — with my sword raised, my heart open, and taking it one step at a time,” Crystal concluded.

She also shared a video on Instagram linking to her essay and inviting others to follow her journey.
