Chris Martin maintained a deep connection with Dakota Johnson right up until their recent breakup. 

Just days prior to the couple’s rumored separation, the lead singer of Coldplay publicly endorsed Dakota’s soon-to-be-released film alongside Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans during a live performance of his band.

“Thank you very much everyone,” Chris expressed while wrapping up Coldplay’s concert on June 1 in Stanford, California. “Remember to be kind to yourself and to one another. And don’t miss the chance to see Materialists!” 

Although Chris—who shares two children, Apple Martin, aged 21, and Moses Martin, aged 19, with his former spouse Gwyneth Paltrow—was demonstrating his support for Dakota during this time, various sources confirmed to People on June 4 that the couple decided to part ways after nearly eight years of being together.

While neither Chris nor Dakota has publicly addressed the breakup, Dakota was seen in New York on June 4, wearing a casual outfit consisting of oversized pants and a matching shirt, complemented by a wide-brimmed sun hat and sunglasses—but notably absent was her engagement ring.

Prior to Chris’ heartfelt shoutout, Dakota had also been spotted enjoying dinner in New York with Taylor Swift on May 29. While she wore two prominent rings and a striking necklace, she made a deliberate choice to leave her left ring finger unadorned.
