Sydney Sweeney’s R-Rated Thriller Achieves Streaming Success

Sydney Sweeney‘s R-rated thriller has just hit a major milestone on digital that comes right after the movie was released on a streaming service. Sweeney’s list of movies continues to grow, as the star who broke out on HBO’s Euphoria, which aired its final season earlier in 2026, has become one of the biggest names of her generation in Hollywood. While Sweeney has experimented with many genres, including horror, rom-com, sci-fi, and more, she has cemented herself as a powerful name when it comes to thrillers. In recent years, the actress has played a key role in multiple successful thrillers.

Sweeney has found success either in theaters, on digital platforms, or in streaming services with her thrillers, which come with varied subgenres. For instance, The Voyeurs, an R-rated erotic thriller starring Sweeney, has become a streaming hit on and off again for years since it was originally released on Prime Video in 2021. Other thriller movies featuring Sweeney include the star-studded survival thriller Eden, the crime thriller Echo Valley, and the R-rated psychological thriller The Housemaid. The latter became a global box office hit with $400.5 million and has a sequel on the way. Now, The Housemaid has just passed a vital milestone on digital.

The Housemaid Just Crossed Another Streaming Milestone

The Housemaid has passed the mark of 50 days on the Amazon VOD store’s Top 25 Movies list, according to data from FlixPatrol. At the time of writing, Sweeney’s thriller is currently at 51 days. This means it has trended for longer on the coveted digital chart than movies like Spider-Man: Brand New Day, at 12 days, The End of Oak Street, at 32 days, Jason Statham’s Mutiny, at 39 days, Andrew Garfield’s The Uprising, at 19 days, and many more. Right now, Amazon VOD’s biggest streak comes from Dakota Fanning’s Coraline, at a whopping 223 days.

Sweeney’s R-rated psychological thriller just came back to the coveted chart. Right now, The Housemaid stands as the 23rd most popular movie on Amazon VOD in the United States. It has left behind movies like Coraline, even though the animated dark fantasy holds the chart’s current longest streak, and Garfield’s The Uprising. The 2025 thriller’s new digital milestone comes after a major streaming arrival. After all, Sweeney’s The Housemaid was released on HBO Max on October 9. According to FlixPatrol, The Housemaid is the 2nd most-watched movie on HBO Max in the US, only losing to Hugh Jackman’s The Death of Robin Hood.
