Terminated Pregnancy After Rare Disease Diagnosis of Baby

YouTuber Jesse Ridgway and his wife Ashley Ridgway have terminated their pregnancy following their baby’s Down syndrome diagnosis.

Justene Alpert is sharing her experience of a heartbreaking loss.

While revealing that she terminated her pregnancy last December, the 36-year-old provided insight into the factors influencing her and her husband Mason Trueblood’s decision, noting that their baby was diagnosed with a “rare genetic disease.”

“To the woman who is experiencing this or has experienced this before,” Alpert expressed in a June 25 Instagram post, “I’m mad for us. No one prepares you for this. No one talks about this. No one briefs you on this when you are trying for a family.”

She elaborated on how the disease was affecting the fetus. “He wasn’t going to make it to full term,” she shared. “It’s hard to swallow this news because I was looking at his little heart beating on the screen. He had the most beautiful profile. He had his dad’s nose. I was ready for him. But then they pointed out the fluid, the organs, etc.”

After her doctors advised termination due to the “high risks” associated with pregnancy at her age, the 9-1-1 actress stated that she and her husband Mason Trueblood “had to say ‘goodbye’ to our son” on Dec. 29.
