Today Show Intruder Arrest: Craig Melvin Speaks Out


Craig Melvin is sharing an update after an intruder was arrested at the Today studios.

Amid reports that the suspect had allegedly lunged at Melvin while attempting to gain access inside the morning show’s New York City studios on July 16, the 47-year-old spoke out and assured fans that he’s “doing just fine.”

“Hey everyone. I’ve heard from so many of you over the last few hours,” Melvin wrote on Instagram hours after police took the suspect into custody. “Thanks for reaching out. I’m looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning on @TodayShow.”

He also included a statement from Today, which confirmed that there was “a security incident this morning at the Today show studio.”

“An individual entered an unauthorized area in a vestibule near Studio 1A,” the statement continued. “The person approached anchor Craig Melvin, who alerted security. The individual was detained and taken into custody by law enforcement without further incident. There was no altercation, and no one was injured.”
