Maya Jama brought serious tartan energy to the cover of The Observer Magazine, showcasing her toned legs in a Vivienne Westwood miniskirt. The Love Island host fronts this weekend’s issue, and her coordinated corset-and-skirt look commanded attention.

Maya Jama’s Vivienne Westwood micro miniskirt gets a glossy tartan twist. She wore the designer Zora Mini Skirt, priced at €810. In fact, the piece is cut from the label’s Buchanan tartan for the season, woven with a subtle sheen that gives its shiny blue-and-brown check a liquid finish. The pattern draws on the 19th-century Buchanan sett, associated with the Buchanan clan of Loch Lomond.
In terms of silhouette, the mini-length features soft, draped detailing across the front that flows into an asymmetric hem. The wrapped effect gave the piece a sculptural quality, turning a classic plaid into something unmistakably Westwood. An orb button adds a signature finishing touch, while the internal lining carries the house’s archival stripe and lettering.
Meanwhile, a structured waistband anchors the draped front, lending the fluid skirt a tailored base. On the cover, Maya’s glowing complexion stood out against the muted backdrop, and the skirt’s surface caught the light beautifully.
She paired the skirt with a matching Westwood corset in the same tartan, finished with ruffled straps. As a result, the coordinated set read as one fluid look, with the corset’s structured bodice contrasting with the skirt’s soft drape.
Furthermore, the blue-and-brown palette looked rich and moody, with chocolate tones peeking through the layered drape at the hem. Bold yet cohesive, the pattern made tartan feel fresh rather than traditional.
Hair stylist Alisha Dobson kept the styling relaxed, letting Maya’s long, dark hair fall loosely over her shoulders. The effortless finish ensured the tailoring remained the main event. The shoot was photographed by Brian Daly, giving the cover a polished finish.
Inside the issue, Basia Cummings meets the star away from The Traitors’ turret to find out who the woman in the cloak really is. Accordingly, the cover line, “Smile… and keep moving,” promises a closer look at the sass, savvy, and success behind one of British television’s most recognizable faces.
