Exploring the Evolution of The Darkness with ‘Bulletproof’
The Darkness released their eighth studio album, Dreams on Toast, on March 28. Music critic Michael Gallucci from UCR described the album: “Dreams on Toast lacks a definitive theme, aiming solely to provide listeners with a good time while encouraging them to enjoy life. The album spans a brisk 33 minutes, filled with a mix of power pop, heavy metal, and even hints of country in tracks like ‘Hot on My Tail’ and ‘Cold Hearted Woman,’ creating an eclectic and energetic sound.
As the band’s original album, Permission to Land, celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023, frontman Justin Hawkins shared his thoughts with UCR about the band’s remarkable journey in the music industry. He remarked, “When you have a band that lasts for 20 years, they become untouchable. They develop a dedicated audience and establish their unique approach to music. This level of longevity is something you can hardly envision at the start of a project. Reaching such a milestone is truly miraculous.”
