AC/DC officially kicked off their eagerly anticipated North American tour on Thursday night with an electrifying 21-song set in Minneapolis. The excitement in the air was palpable as fans gathered to witness the legendary rock band take the stage.
For those looking to relive the experience, we’ve compiled an array of captivating photos, the complete set list, and fan-shot videos from the unforgettable concert below.
Despite turning 70 years old last month, guitarist Angus Young remains a vibrant force of nature, showcasing his signature duck-walk and high-energy performance style across the expansive stage. He expertly led his band through a mix of their greatest hits along with a couple of tracks from their latest album, Power Up, further solidifying their status as rock icons.
This marks the first time AC/DC has toured North America since their tumultuous Rock or Bust tour in 2015-2016. That tour was marred by challenges, including the absence of founding rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, who passed away in 2017 after battling dementia and various health complications. Additionally, drummer Phil Rudd was unable to participate due to his well-publicized legal issues, while lead singer Brian Johnson had to step away from the tour prematurely due to serious hearing problems.
To help finish the tour, Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose stepped in for Johnson, providing his unique flair to the performances. Following this, bassist Cliff Williams announced his retirement from touring, which left Angus Young as the only remaining member of a lineup that had been stable since 2014.
Fortunately, Johnson has successfully overcome his hearing challenges and is set to return for the band’s 2024 European tour, joining forces once again with Angus Young, his nephew Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug, and bassist Chris Chaney. This reunion of talent promises to thrill fans across the globe.
