Although her time on the show was brief, Beatriz made a significant impact. She is the first individual with a disability to appear on Love Island USA.
After her friend highlighted the positive feedback Beatriz—who was born without a fibula in her right leg—received on social media, she expressed, “I love that I came across so powerful.”
What advice would she give to her teenage self?
“Your leg might seem like a big deal to you now, but it’s not. Once you fully accept that and embrace yourself, life becomes much easier,” she shared. “Be open and willing to accept love and also the hate.”
While Beatriz mentioned that her disability has made her “very tough,” she felt she could “turn that all off” with Gabriel, allowing herself to be “feminine” and “soft.”
“Falling for someone is scary, but that’s the risk you have to be willing to take,” she noted. “And Gabriel made that risk worth taking.”
