Brand New Day Villains Shine in Exclusive Unseen Photos

New behind-the-scenes pictures provide the best look yet at two Spider-Man: Brand New Day villains. The upcoming film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and is set to release later this month.

Destin Daniel Cretton shares close-up shots of two Spider-Man: Brand New Day villains

Director Destin Daniel Cretton shared behind-the-scenes shots of two Spider-Man: Brand New Day villains via an Instagram post. The first image offers an up-close look at an actor in costume as Boomerang. The second still features a close-up of Snow Fan Xiao Shaung, who portrays a member of the red-clad, secretive ninja cult and criminal organization, The Hand.

The post was Cretton’s way of acknowledging costume designer Sanja Hays for her work. The caption stated, “Sanja and her talented team worked tirelessly to create all the iconic costumes of Brand New Day. It was a huge revelation to see how difficult and intricate it was to design and build Spider-Man’s suit in this movie. Without any layers to hide things, every stitch and seam is exposed. They went through countless renditions of the new suit until the fit was perfect for Tom Holland, the blue had the right amount of glow, and every web was in its exact position.”

This is the second significant update regarding villains from Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Earlier last month, Marvel revealed the first looks of Tombstone (Marvin Jones III) and the Scorpion (Michael Mando). Other major villains featured in the upcoming film include Tarantula and Ramrod.

The official synopsis of Spider-Man: Brand New Day states, “Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for theatrical release on July 31, 2026.
