New York Comic-Con is underway with several new announcements from the Marvel Television and Marvel Animation panel, but first, a fun reunion between the original Defenders. Charlie Cox took to the stage to tease the upcoming third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again, and he was joined by Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand). Mike Colter (Iron Fist) wasn’t able to attend the event, but he’ll be reprising his role in the third season as well.
The Defenders in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3
“The first time we were all back together again, it was like 2016 all over again,” Cox said. “We wish Mike could be here!”
The Defenders have slowly been returning to Daredevil: Born Again, with Ritter making several appearances in the second season and Colter appearing in the finale. That only left Jones, but he’ll be appearing in the third season alongside his fellow Defenders. Thanks to some sneaky set photos, we’ve known of their return for a while now, but it’s still fun to see them officially back together, albeit minus Colter.
The third season wrapped shooting earlier this year and is in the midst of post-production, but Dario Scardapane, who took over the show during its creative overhaul, has “quietly parted ways” with the studio. His contract was up and was not renewed, but it’s odd for the showrunner to exit the series while it’s still in post-production. It’s not clear who will see it over the finish line.
Zodiac and Marvel Zombies
Marvel Television also revealed the logo for Zodiac, a live-action spy thriller series set to debut on Disney+ in 2028. Not much is known about the project, but Marvel Television chief Brad Winderbaum said casting will begin in the “next couple of weeks,” with shooting taking place in London in the spring. Curious to find out more about this one.
Also, more Marvel Zombies are on the way. Marvel Animation announced that the series will return with three all-new specials. Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier will debut on Halloween 2027, followed by Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu on Halloween 2028, and Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian on Halloween 2029.
