Out of nowhere, Disney seems to have a new streaming sensation and the timing has worked out pretty nicely. For those of you living under a rock, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is now underway, making it an ideal time for Disney to launch a magical soccer fantasy series. Clearly, there isn’t enough magic on the field for the executives at Disney. Have they never seen Lionel Messi play?
Dragon Striker, Disney’s new animated fantasy series, has officially reached No. 1 on the Disney+ daily chart of the most-watched series in the United States, after having debuted its first 11 episodes on Disney XD on June 9, before arriving on Disney Channel and Disney+ on June 10. Just two days later, it had already climbed to the top of the platform’s U.S. chart. Talk about sticking a shot in the top corner of the net.
Created by Sylvain Dos Santos and Charles Lefebvre, Dragon Striker follows a group of underdogs at a school built around a magical soccer game. The voice cast includes Akshay Kumar (Bade Miyan Chote Miyan), Yeukayi Ushe (Kinky Boots), Rebecca LaChance (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Waylon Jacobs (Hamilton), and Evanna Lynch (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix).
The new series is already swatting aside more prominent Disney+ titles on the U.S. chart, including Locker Diaries: Phineas and Ferb, the British comedy Alice and Steve, and Mindy Kaling’s new series Not Suitable for Work. It has also appeared in the Disney+ Top 10 in 16 regions globally, including Canada, Sweden, Albania, and Bulgaria, while peaking at No. 4 in Denmark.

BStop asking questions and start stockpiling — food, fuel, weapons. Questions don’t keep you alive.
CKeep my head down, observe carefully, and trust no one until I know who’s pulling the strings.
DStudy the patterns. Every system has a rhythm — learn it, and you learn how to survive it.
