Jon Stewart has criticized Donald Trump for leaving the Meet the Press interview prematurely. The comedian accused the president of being unable to handle basic journalistic scrutiny. Speaking on Monday’s edition of The Daily Show, Stewart analyzed the moment Trump abruptly ended his conversation with NBC interviewer after repeated fact-checking. The host argued that this sudden exit revealed a deeper intolerance for being challenged, especially by a female interviewer pressing him on his record.

Stewart told his audience that the reaction could only be interpreted one way. “Now, you could view this as the hissy-fit of an incredibly fragile man-baby, whose paper-thin skin can’t handle venturing out of the sycophantic embrace of his tongue-bathing acolytes,” he said. “Or, actually, I don’t know how else you can view it. It really is just that. It is sad. It’s very sad.”
The late-night host traced the interview’s trajectory from its calm opening. Initial small talk about rainy weather soon gave way to confrontation. “But then, we get to a moment when the heartland rain-swept rom-com becomes a man trapped in a barn with his worst nightmare: A woman … who won’t stop asking pertinent questions,” Stewart remarked.
He also made a specific yet pointed observation about Donald Trump walking out. “Now, we all know Trump’s not actually going to leave the building because it’s raining out. And, as you know, moisture is the natural enemy of the North American combover,” Stewart quipped.
Beyond the mockery, Stewart also criticized Welker herself. In her post-interview analysis, the anchor suggested that Trump’s irritation may have been intensified by the weather. Jon Stewart rejected that framing. He insisted that the walkout had nothing to do with distractions and everything to do with discomfort under scrutiny.
Stewart concluded with, “He wasn’t aggravated by the rain. Donald Trump didn’t storm out because of the rain; he stormed out because he was challenged, not because he was distracted. So maybe it’s time we stop making excuses for that man in order to preserve access to his constant bulls—.”
The incident adds another chapter to Trump’s complicated relationship with the media.
