Two years after the announcement of an official, authorized documentary about Fleetwood Mac, the film now has a title and release date.
Fleetwood Mac: The Chain will be released on January 29, 2027, on Apple TV. Directed by five-time Academy Award nominee Frank Marshall, the movie promises to provide audiences with “a definitive and unprecedented look at Fleetwood Mac’s story, bringing together voices, memories, and perspectives of Grammy Award-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks.”
As fans of Fleetwood Mac will undoubtedly recognize, the documentary’s title is a direct reference to the band’s popular song “The Chain.” This standout track from their landmark album Rumours expresses the strength of an unbreakable bond, even amidst adversity. According to a press release announcing the film, the song aptly reflects the band’s narrative as it “perfectly captures the complicated yet enduring bond at the heart of Fleetwood Mac.”

“The documentary will reveal what enabled this combination of artists to create unique musical works repeatedly and what brought them back together despite every conceivable pressure from both outside and within the band that threatened to tear them apart,” further stated the press release.
Fleetwood Mac: The Chain will also include never-before-seen footage and exclusive new interviews, providing deeper insight into one of rock history’s greatest bands.
