We may all still be waiting for PlayStation Plus to confirm its full games lineup for its Extra and Premium tiers, but there’s some good news for some subscribers anyway. The Essential games for May 2026 were confirmed last week, and they’re now available to download and add to your library, but the rest of the month is still a bit of a mystery. However, we at least have official confirmation of one game arriving later this month.
Right now, PlayStation has confirmed at least one game will be arriving on PS Plus on May 19, 2026. You’d be forgiven if you missed this, though, since it’s been a while since PlayStation announced it. As noted over on Reddit, this was revealed at the State of Play way back in February. A lot has happened since then, so consider this a friendly reminder.
Time Crisis is arriving on PS Plus on May 19. It’s an on-rails, first-person shooter that you might remember if you frequented arcades in the ’90s. There hasn’t been a new entry in the series since Time Crisis 5 in 2015, so it’s nice to see the Namco franchise returning to PlayStation in some form or fashion. A PS1 version of the first game launched in 1997, and this is the entry that’ll be arriving later this month.
The PS1 version of Time Crisis will be available to all PlayStation Plus Premium members as part of the Classic Catalog. It looks like it’ll be available on both PS4 and PS5. It will also apparently have gyro-based aiming, so the controls might take a while to get used to. If you’ve played other PS1 games using the PS5’s DualSense, then you already know some of the controls of these older games can feel clunky at times.
There are already a ton of PS1 classics on PS Plus, so if Time Crisis isn’t your thing, there’s still plenty to choose from. If you like JRPGs, then give Legend of Dragoon a shot. Other iconic PS1 games like Twisted Metal, Resident Evil, Tekken 2, and more are also available if you’ve got Premium. You also can’t go wrong with the original MediEvil or Cool Boarders.
Time Crisis is still a pretty cool addition, especially if you’re nostalgic for the series already. And if you aren’t, it’s still worth checking out if you’ve already got a Premium membership of PlayStation Plus. It doesn’t cost you anything extra to give it a try.
