Anya Taylor-Joy transformed fashion into art for her latest V Magazine feature. The actress took center stage in a series of experimental creations made from an unexpected material: paper. For the publication’s September issue, Taylor-Joy modeled one-of-a-kind designs created specifically for the shoot, including a dramatic Gaurav Gupta Couture gown that played with transparency, movement, and exaggerated proportions.
Anya Taylor-Joy’s sheer Gaurav Gupta gown comes with massive side cutouts for V Magazine
Taylor-Joy’s custom Gaurav Gupta paper gown was constructed using engineered paper panels layered over a delicate tulle base. The sculptural white panels extended dramatically outward from her body, creating petal-like shapes that appeared almost weightless as she moved.
Underneath, the transparent tulle formed a long, body-skimming silhouette that made the gown boldly sheer. Massive side cutouts stretched along the torso, leaving much of Taylor-Joy’s sides exposed before the translucent fabric continued down her legs. Layered and pleated paper detailing through the center added texture and created a striking contrast against the gown’s airy outer structure.
She paired the statement creation with Tiffany & Co.’s Bird on a Rock drop earrings and a wide platinum ring set with diamonds. White Christian Louboutin Cassia lace-up pumps completed the monochromatic styling.
The look formed part of V Magazine‘s larger exploration of paper and storytelling. For the September issue, photographer Nick Knight and stylist Anna Trevelyan collaborated with a lineup of designers.
They created original dresses entirely from paper for Taylor-Joy. Alongside Gaurav Gupta, the project featured creations from Matthew David Andrews, Noel Stewart, Jenny Beattie, AGRO Studio, Macy Grimshaw, Thevxlley, Miguel Castro Freitas for Mugler, and Zac Posen for GapStudio.
The concept also reflected Taylor-Joy’s connection to storytelling beyond acting. In her V Magazine interview, she discussed moving further behind the camera, including serving as an executive producer.
Between its enormous sculptural panels, revealing cutouts, and transparent foundation, Taylor-Joy’s Gaurav Gupta creation seamlessly transformed a simple sheet of paper into a high-fashion statement. Indeed, the dramatic construction proved that structural art and elegance can coexist effortlessly.
