Star Trek: Picard season 3 leaves fans in suspense regarding the identity of Commodore Geordi La Forge’s (played by LeVar Burton) wife, which raises questions about potential romantic ties to his former crush from Star Trek: The Next Generation. In Star Trek: Picard season 3, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (portrayed by Patrick Stewart) seeks assistance from his once-trusted Chief Engineer to evade the clutches of Starfleet and the insidious Changelings who have infiltrated it. Although Geordi initially hesitates to engage in this risky endeavor, he eventually finds himself persuaded by his daughters, Sidney (played by Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut) and Alandra (played by Mica Burton), to step into action. Despite mentioning his wife in passing as the mother of his daughters, he never unveils her name, leaving fans to speculate.
While Star Trek: Picard enthusiasts eagerly anticipated a spin-off titled Star Trek: Legacy, Paramount+ has opted to divert its focus towards other exciting Trek projects. This decision implies that the mystery surrounding Geordi’s wife might persist, yet speculation among fans continues to thrive. Throughout Star Trek: The Next Generation, Geordi La Forge faced numerous challenges in his romantic endeavors, lacking substantial love stories during his time on the show. His most notable infatuation was with a holographic representation of Dr. Leah Brahms (played by Susan Gibney), and the hope remains that Star Trek does not choose to pair him with the real Dr. Brahms, considering the complexities of their previous interactions.
I Hope Star Trek Makes a Wise Decision Regarding Commodore Geordi La Forge’s Wife—Avoiding Dr. Leah Brahms
Star Trek Should Introduce a Fresh Character as Geordi’s Wife
There are compelling reasons why it would be unwise for Star Trek to reveal that Geordi’s wife is none other than Dr. Leah Brahms. Notably, Brahms was already married when La Forge first encountered her on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and at that time, she exhibited no romantic interest in him. Although one could argue that they might have rekindled their relationship later, their initial connection serves as a weak and unstable foundation for a potential marriage. Furthermore, Geordi’s relationship with Leah was largely fabricated, as their entire interaction occurred within the confines of a holodeck simulation. La Forge undoubtedly deserves to find love with someone with whom he shares a genuine and meaningful bond.

I’m Frustrated That Geordi’s Family Is Being Overlooked by Star Trek Due to a Lack of New Series
After the conclusion of Star Trek: Picard season 3, I am eager to see more of Geordi La Forge’s family, yet it seems improbable that this will materialize in the near future.
If Star Trek were to eventually disclose the identity of Geordi’s wife, I sincerely hope it introduces a completely new character that has yet to be encountered in the franchise. While the reunion of the TNG cast in Star Trek: Picard season 3 was fitting, there is no necessity to resurrect every minor character from the series. The expansive Star Trek universe offers ample opportunity for Geordi to have formed a relationship with someone new following his tenure on the USS Enterprise. Notably, Commodore Geordi La Forge has undergone significant character development since his days in TNG, and his feelings towards Leah Brahms have always seemed more like a youthful infatuation rather than a profound connection.
The Bizarre Dynamic Between Dr. Leah Brahms and Geordi La Forge Was a Persistent Issue in Star Trek: TNG
Geordi’s Uncomfortable “Romance” with Leah Brahms
Geordi La Forge first encounters a holographic version of Dr. Leah Brahms in Star Trek: The Next Generation season 3, episode 6, titled “Booby Trap,” when he seeks her expertise to make critical adjustments to the Enterprise’s warp drive. Initially, this holographic representation lacks any semblance of personality and merely recites facts and technical information. However, when Geordi instructs the Enterprise computer to incorporate all available data about Dr. Brahms, the program generates a version of her that possesses a simulated personality. This is where the situation becomes increasingly awkward, as Geordi and Hologram Leah engage in heated debates and flirtatious banter while collaborating to save the Enterprise.
I hope his problematic Star Trek: The Next Generation “romance” remains a relic of the past.
The hologram delivers some genuinely cringe-worthy lines, culminating in a kiss before Geordi ultimately ends the holodeck program. When the authentic Dr. Leah Brahms visits the Enterprise in TNG season 4, episode 16, titled “Galaxy’s Child,” she bears little resemblance to the holographic version. Upon discovering Geordi’s holodeck program, she is understandably disturbed and upset, leading to a confrontation where Geordi’s reaction is one of anger and criticism towards her. This exchange does not reflect well on Geordi at all. Regardless of whether we ever learn who Geordi’s wife is, I sincerely hope his problematic Star Trek: The Next Generation “romance” remains confined to the past.
