Ghost-Type Eeveelution Divides Pokémon Fans

Pokémon is filled with strange and fascinating creations, and the well-known saying is that there will always be someone who has a specific ‘mon as their favorite. While millions of fans adore Pikachu, Gengar, Charizard, and Mew, there are also those who can’t get enough of Trubbish or Klefki.

On the opposite end of the spectrum from the Garbadors of this world are the Eeveelutions, all of whom remain extremely popular among fans of both the video games and TCG. Consequently, there are always numerous requests for the developer to introduce a new one as we progress into another generation.

Now, that moment has arrived again, and one fan believes they have devised a fantastic idea for the next logical evolution for Eevee.

If you missed it, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company confirmed that Winds and Waves will be the first games of the tenth generation, as part of the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebrations. This announcement was met with understandable excitement from fans, many of whom believe it could be the perfect time to introduce another Eeveelution.

However, there are currently limited options available within the existing typing systems, with many already occupied by existing evolutions. On Reddit, one user thinks they may have identified the next logical evolution in Zombeon, a Ghost-type Eeveelution that technically belongs to the undead.

The description for this Fakemon reads as follows:

“Eevee evolves into Zombeon after being revived from fainting. Its body begins to decay, yet it refuses to stop moving, driven by an instinct it no longer understands.”

This is certainly the darkest Eeveelution we have seen to date, but it is genuinely quite cute considering part of its brain is exposed. As expected, many were quick to share their thoughts.

“SUPER nice take on a ghost-type evolution for Eevee. Everyone always wants to go incorporeal with it so it can still look cute and approachable and marketable. You aren’t a REAL Eevee fan until you are willing to hug its smelly rotted corpse and still earnestly tell it that you love it,” one comment stated.

“I think having it based on revive might be too easy to obtain? It could become annoying. Perhaps it should faint multiple times in one battle instead? Or maybe not, I’m recalling my last playthrough where I tend to use revives frequently in the endgame,” another user added.

A third comment read, “Love this idea! I think having it evolve via revive after fainting while only being able to use struggle would be a good gimmick. Struggle always reminds me of the shambling gait zombies have.”

The unfortunate reality is that despite all of the leaks we have seen so far, it doesn’t seem like we will be getting a new Eeveelution in Pokémon Winds and Waves. Let’s just hope that all the new creations we do receive hit the right mark.
