Sam Worthington’s two Greek mythology action movies are heading to Peacock next month. Packed with famous stars and giant monster battles, both fantasy films were big hits with audiences worldwide. Together, they earned nearly $795 million at the global box office. Even though critics gave them mixed reviews, both movies became huge commercial successes and fan favorites.
Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans will stream on Peacock in August
According to TV Guide, Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans are set to arrive on August 1. Peacock adds both fantasy films on the same day. Fans can now stream both movies without much waiting. Clash of the Titans was released in theaters in April 2010.
Louis Leterrier directed the fantasy action-adventure movie. The story follows the Greek hero Perseus as he fights dangerous enemies. Sam Worthington leads the cast as brave Perseus. Gemma Arterton, Bill Nighy, Mads Mikkelsen, and Nicholas Hoult also appear. Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson as Zeus joined the impressive cast, too.
According to Box Office Mojo, the movie earned $493 million. It became a worldwide box-office success. Rotten Tomatoes lists 27% critics and 40% audience scores. The reviews stayed mixed, but audiences still showed up in the theaters.
Its success later led to a sequel in theaters two years later. Wrath of the Titans was released worldwide in March 2012. Jonathan Liebesman directed the sequel. The story begins ten years after the events of the previous movie.
Perseus returns as the gods slowly lose control again. Rosamund Pike joined Sam Worthington in the sequel, cast as Andromeda. Bill Nighy and Ralph Fiennes also returned. Liam Neeson played Zeus once again in the sequel.
The film earned $301 million worldwide during its run. Rotten Tomatoes shows 26% critics and 49% audience scores. Audience response was slightly better than critics this time. Both movies earned nearly $795 million worldwide combined.
Basil Iwanyk, Legendary Pictures, and Thunder Road Pictures produced them. The franchise delivered solid box-office numbers despite the reviews. Fans can stream both movies on Peacock from August 1.
