Ivanka Trump attended the White House welcome ceremony for Chinese President Xi Jinping on September 24. The official state visit featured a formal arrival ceremony hosted by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

For the occasion, Ivanka selected a custom creation from Chinese haute couture designer Guo Pei. The outfit showcased a Robin’s Egg blue dress adorned with white embroidered detailing across the bodice and sleeves. The design also incorporated structured square pockets, providing the otherwise elegant silhouette with a slightly tailored finish.

The most striking detail was the tiny matching jacket layered over the dress. This cropped piece sat above the waist and featured intricate white embroidery, creating a clear contrast against the blue base. Its bell-shaped sleeves also contributed another distinctive aspect to the outfit.

Ivanka maintained a relatively understated look overall. She styled her blonde hair in a sleek updo and paired the ensemble with Jimmy Choo ivory pointed-toe pumps. Her jewelry was minimal, consisting of white pearl earrings.

The outfit also incorporated a Chinese fashion influence, as Ivanka chose a Beijing-based designer for this occasion. The Guo Pei look was photographed alongside her daughter, Arabella Kushner, who attended the ceremony in a white belted midi dress.

Guo Pei is renowned for her elaborate couture creations, including the dramatic yellow gown worn by Rihanna at the 2015 Met Gala. Ivanka’s latest ensemble took a more structured and understated approach, featuring delicate embroidery and a soft blue palette instead.
