Discover Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Surprising Love for Cardi B’s Music!
This week, the fascinating subject of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her story, highlighted in Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, took to TikTok to showcase her impressive dance skills. In her latest video, she danced to Pardison Fontaine and Cardi B's popular February single “Toot It Up.” Gypsy confidently performed the viral choreography, which included the playful act of dribbling an imaginary basketball while mimicking Cardi’s lyrics, “If you a ball player, I’m tryna recruit that a–.” However, the performance took an unexpected turn when she attempted a dramatic squat and unfortunately fell backward offscreen, adding a touch of humor to her otherwise impressive attempt.
In her TikTok caption, Gypsy Rose reflected on the near-perfect execution of her dance, humorously stating, “It was so close to being perfect. My quirkiness never fails me,” accompanied by a laugh-crying emoji to lighten the moment.
Gypsy Rose’s journey has been one of significant turmoil and resilience. In 2015, she was arrested alongside her then-boyfriend and later convicted of second-degree murder for the tragic death of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Her harrowing life story, marked by extensive physical, mental, and medical abuse at the hands of her mother, was adapted into an acclaimed eight-episode Hulu series titled The Act in 2019. The series garnered critical acclaim, with Joey King receiving an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Gypsy Rose, while Patricia Arquette won an Emmy for her role as Dee Dee.
After serving eight years of her ten-year prison sentence, Gypsy Rose was released in December 2023. In the previous year, Lifetime aired two notable programs centered on her life: the documentary series The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and the reality series Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up. The second season of Life After Lock Up premiered just last month, further exploring her life post-incarceration.
One amusing comment on Gypsy Rose’s “Toot It Up” dance video read, “I’m telling my kids this was JLO,” to which Gypsy humorously responded, “Best compliment of my life,” showcasing her playful engagement with her audience.
