John Krasinski is back as CIA analyst Jack Ryan in a brand-new trailer for the upcoming film Jack Ryan: Ghost War.
After the Office alum played the action hero from 2018 to 2023, Prime Video canceled Jack Ryan after only four seasons. However, in a surprising twist, the streaming service announced in late 2024 that the story would continue in a movie, with Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, Michael Kelly, and Betty Gabriel all reprising their roles for Ghost War.
Ahead of its May 20 release date, Prime Video has shared a new Jack Ryan: Ghost War trailer, which teases a very personal journey for Jack this time around, but the danger and risks involved are still just as prevalent. Check out the Jack Ryan: Ghost War trailer below:
In the thriller, Jack feels a strong reluctance to return to the field after landing a civilian job, but an international covert mission and a deadly conspiracy thrust Jack back into the action. With time running out to save the day, he and his team, which includes Mike November and James Greer, attempt to evade their adversary, who seems to know exactly what their next move will be.
The trailer begins with Jack going for a run, but a black SUV stops him and changes his life once again. Inside is none other than James Greer, his former boss at the CIA. Greer wants Jack to help him with a new mission, but the former analyst makes it clear he won’t accept an offer. “Whatever it is, I’m not doing,” Jack says. Greer responds, “I just need you to meet a guy.
Despite saying no, Jack is then shown back on the case and undercover. He and Mike November communicate via their earpieces, with the latter exclaiming that he misses “being out in the field.” On what appears to be a riverboat, a mystery man tells Jack that “your friend sent you because he’s scared. He’s right to be.” Immediately after this, the man falls over after being shot.
Jack jumps off the boat onto a smaller vessel and fights the driver. After the tense exchange, the trailer introduces a brand-new character, MI6 officer Emma Marlowe (played by Sienna Miller), who orders Jack to put his hands up.
Marlowe questions Jack about his knowledge of an unsanctioned black ops team that’s designed for psychological warfare and assassinations. The MI6 officer and Jack work together to take down the organization, which is filled with intelligent and dangerous individuals, “and they will do exactly what we trained them to do,” according to Greer.
The rest of the trailer is filled with non-stop action, including car chases, gun fights, and major explosions, culminating in Marlowe falling through a glass floor as Jack reaches down to save her.
Andrew Bernstein, who directed multiple episodes of the Jack Ryan TV show, is back as director of the R-rated Ghost War, with the script written by Aaron Rabin and Krasinski.
The producing team consists of Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, Andrew Form, John J. Kelly, Alexa Ginsburg, Carlton Cuse, and Tom Clancy (who wrote the bestselling Jack Ryan book series). Other cast members starring alongside Krasinski in Ghost War include Max Beesley, JJ Feild, and Douglas Hodge.
Jack Ryan: Ghost War will be released on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, on Prime Video.
