Molly McNearney, Wife of Jimmy Kimmel, Shares Thoughts on His Potential Retirement from Late Night
Molly McNearney would welcome it if her husband Jimmy Kimmel decided to retire from late night television soon.
The co-head writer and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!—who shares children Jane, 12, and Billy, 9, with her husband of 13 years—discussed the possibility of him ending the show in the near future.
As McNearney mentioned on the Aug. 24 episode of Armchair Expert, “It definitely appeals to me for the nervous system of the household.”
“I feel like Jimmy has a fly rod in one hand and a torch in the other right now,” she added. “It’s like he deserves to go out there and just be on the river and relax, but I also want him to keep fighting. And I feel this sense of desire to not quit because I think what he’s doing is incredibly important right now.”
The 48-year-old further explained that continuing to do the show—which was briefly suspended last September due to comments Kimmel made following Charlie Kirk’s murder—during such a politically tense time has made many viewers feel acknowledged.
