Janelle Brown Critiques Kody Brown’s Financial Management of Family Resources

In a candid discussion about the family’s struggle to settle the financial obligations associated with Coyote Pass, Janelle Brown expressed her frustrations regarding Kody Brown’s handling of their family finances. She pointed out that while Kody asserted he was burdened with “all these other debts,” she observed him acquiring numerous assets, such as trailers and luxurious home décor. “I see all the art on their walls,” Janelle remarked, referring to the lavish items in Robyn and Kody’s residence. “I see all these things. And that’s fine; I have money and I’ve spent it on things, too.” Kody responded by stating that a significant portion of his funds went towards purchasing cars—boasting, “I basically had a fleet”—and ensuring insurance for the children.

Janelle, however, admitted that she was uncertain about the financial strategies employed by Kody and Robyn. She reflected, “I used to always be surprised at how nice her backyard was. It was completely finished. And there was always, like, stuff at her house. And I was like, ‘Wow. Huh.'” This observation highlighted her growing concerns over their financial priorities and how they differed from her own.

Ultimately, Janelle concluded, “He doesn’t prioritize what I need or what I want,” and this disparity became increasingly exhausting for her. “I think after a while, I began to see it, and my kids were getting very angry about it, like my adult children. Like, ‘What the hell, Mom?'” This sentiment resonated with her family, who were increasingly frustrated by the apparent imbalance in financial priorities.

On the other hand, Robyn provided her perspective, explaining that she had become extremely prudent with her finances following the dissolution of her first marriage. “I used to be not so great with money,” she shared during the Sept. 22 episode. “When I was young, I had hard knocks, and then I learned during my divorce really how to budget myself very, very well.” Emphasizing her financial acumen, she added, “As for my fellow sister wives, I believe you must have had a different priority regarding where your money was going to go than I did, that’s all.”
