L7 Bassist Jennifer Finch Passes Away After Cancer Fight

The rock world is mourning a tremendous loss.

Days after rock band L7 announced that its bassist Jennifer Finch was battling “an aggressive form of brain cancer,” the musician died on July 18, her bandmates confirmed. She was 59.

“With a very heavy heart we announce that our beloved bandmate, friend, and fellow troublemaker Jennifer Finch has passed away today,” the alt-rock band wrote in an Instagram post July 18. “She had a long courageous fight with brain cancer and was loved by many wonderful friends, musical peers and fans worldwide.”

They added, “We love you Jennifer.”

Following the tragic news, Finch’s loved ones also touched on her enduring legacy.

“We are devastated to announce the death of our partner, sister, daughter, and friend Jennifer Precious Finch,” read a statement shared to Finch’s Instagram July 18. “Jennifer’s impact on the world of music was seismic; her impact on our lives, even moreso.” 

“We appreciate everyone’s interest and concern, thank you for all the kind messages,” the statement continued. “We appreciate some space to heal privately during this difficult time.”
