Patrick Clancy States Lindsay Clancy Confided in Him About Thoughts of Suicide and Harming Their Children
Lindsay Clancy‘s former husband was the initial witness called to testify during her murder trial, which commenced on July 27 in Plymouth Superior Court.
The 35-year-old ex-nurse has not contested the fact that she killed her daughter Cora, 5, and sons Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, but has pleaded not guilty to murder, with the defense attributing her actions to postpartum psychosis.
Patrick Clancy testified that Lindsay faced mental health challenges following the birth of Callan in May 2023, as reported by CNN.
He mentioned that she also sought treatment after Dawson was born in 2019, but “it didn’t last very long.”
According to Patrick, Lindsay’s significant decline occurred in December 2023 after she began taking a new medication, one of several prescribed since September. He stated that Lindsay confided in him about having “intrusive thoughts” regarding harming their children and herself.
He expressed that he did not worry about the children’s safety because she did not appear to have “any intention” of actually causing them harm.
On December 31, Patrick recounted that Lindsay went to the E.R. at Massachusetts General Hospital “because she was still expressing thoughts of suicide.” She was admitted to a connected psychiatric facility, and upon her discharge on January 5, she seemed “much better.”
