Fans of Brandon Sanderson have much to anticipate. The prolific author is working on several high-profile sequels for both Mistborn and The Stormlight Archive, and a new standalone book, The Fires of December, will be released in hardcover in two months. Additionally, there is a new Stormlight show and Mistborn movies in development, along with the author’s official Cosmere RPG. If you are a fan of Mistborn, there is even more to look forward to this fall.
The Cosmere RPG is currently focused on The Stormlight Archive, with new releases planned through 2027. However, the tabletop game is set to introduce Sanderson’s Mistborn in a significant way, featuring three new books that will all have hardcover releases this fall. It’s not just the world of Scadrial being included; mechanics involving metal will alter combat and exploration. Players can also choose between two distinct eras.
Mistborn is coming to the Cosmere RPG in Fall 2026, with three physical hardcover books all launching during this period. Those books are:

- Mistborn Legacy
Combined, these are the three core rulebooks needed to experience the world of Mistborn. Both The Mistborn Handbook and the Mistborn World Guide include information across Era 1 (Vin’s trilogy) and Era 2 (Wax and Wayne’s adventures). Era 1 offers a dark fantasy world where players can engage in heists and horror elements, start a rebellion, and participate in ballroom intrigue — similar to what Vin and her companions did in the original trilogy.
Era 2 presents a more Wild West setting that incorporates the pulp adventures of Wax and Wayne along with detective stories, secret factions, and gunslinging. The final book, Mistborn Legacy, provides additional information on these settings as well as a brand-new story that spans generations.
You can also purchase these Mistborn books digitally, but collectors may prefer the hardcover editions instead. The books will feature a wealth of new artwork, bringing Sanderson’s world to life in an unprecedented way. If you already enjoy tabletop RPGs, this is definitely worth trying.
The hardcovers are currently set for release on November 4, 2026. Mistborn Legacy has an MSRP of $49.99, while both The Mistborn Handbook and the Mistborn World Guide are priced at $59.99 each. Additionally, there is a Starter Set that includes everything needed to begin playing. It contains:
- Starter Rules. This includes a condensed 72-page rulebook for the Mistborn Campaign Setting in the Cosmere RPG.
- Hope in Ashes. Begin your session with “Hope in Ashes”: a 48-page adventure designed for 1st-level characters. This includes battlemaps and tokens for every character and creature involved in the adventure.
- Make GMing Easier. This includes six pregenerated character sheets along with six initiative cards.
- Dice. The set includes six standard RPG dice plus one custom plot die.
