Layla Taylor, star of Mormon Wives, shares her journey as she seeks treatment for an eating disorder.
Layla Taylor is finally sharing her truth.
The Secret Wives of Mormon Wives star came out as bisexual while publicly addressing her sexuality for the very first time.
“It’s just something that I honestly didn’t really know how to formally address for a long period of my life,” Layla shared on the June 29 episode of the On Purpose With Jay Shetty podcast. “I’m gay and I’m bi and date women and men.”
Growing up Mormon, the 25-year-old detailed how her religious Utah upbringing didn’t allow her to openly express her attraction to both sexes.
“Growing up, I didn’t fit in for a lot of reasons in my childhood,” Layla—who shares two kids with ex-husband Clayton Wessell—recounted to host Jay Shetty. “I grew up in a very predominantly white area, and being a little Black girl, I already stood out so much to my peers and took that on a lot more than I feel like I realized.”
“I always had these thoughts and I kind of laugh about it now,” she continued, “because I would be watching shows like Pretty Little Liars and I would watch, like, Shay Mitchell kissing a girl. I was like, ‘Wait, why is that hot?'”
