Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2 Features Donald Glover’s Surprising Role

Recent news about Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2 reveals that Donald Glover will return in a special capacity.

How is Donald Glover returning to Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2?

A report from Deadline indicates that Glover will return to the series he co-created and will direct “multiple episodes” in the second season. Additionally, Francesca Scorsese, the daughter of renowned filmmaker Martin Scorsese, has been cast in the show. She will portray one of the Jane Smiths, though her “Mr. Smith” counterpart has yet to be announced.

Details about Season 2 remain largely undisclosed. According to Deadline, both Glover and Maya Erskine, who starred in the first season, are “believed” to be reprising their roles, although it is uncertain how this will happen given the cliffhanger ending of Season 1. It is still unknown whether they will have long-term roles or make brief appearances.

They will be joined by previously reported cast members Mark Eydelshteyn and Talia Ryder, who will portray another pair of Mr. and Mrs. Smiths. Ryder replaces Sophie Thatcher, who was initially in talks to star in the series. Development for the second season has been ongoing since 2024 but faced delays in 2025 after showrunner Francesca Sloane departed and was succeeded by Anna Ouyang Moench.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith, inspired by the 2005 film of the same name, premiered on Prime Video in February 2024. The first season featured Donald Glover as John Smith/Michael and Maya Erskine as Jane Smith/Alana, two undercover spies posing as a married couple.
