This article contains SPOILERS for HBO’s Lanterns season 1, episode 8.Lanterns‘ season 1 finale has just replaced Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner, and the DC franchise’s new main Green Lantern is the perfect choice. James Gunn’s DC Universe has had to change the public opinion about Green Lantern as a whole. After all, many viewers’ first exposure to the character came from Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern movie from 2011, which was not ideal.
After several years of voicing the Hal Jordan version of Green Lantern in DC’s animated movies, Fillion was cast to play another Green Lantern, Guy Gardner, in live-action in Gunn’s new DC Universe. The actor first appeared as Guy in 2025’s Superman movie, where it was revealed that he was the main active human Green Lantern and a member of the Justice Gang.
Since his DCU Chapter One debut, Fillion has played Guy in multiple DC projects. The actor has shown up in both Peacemaker season 2 and HBO’s Lanterns. Guy is also confirmed to appear in Gunn’s Superman movie sequel, 2027’s Man of Tomorrow, and Tom King’s animated Mister Miracle series as Guy Gardner. As such, he will remain a key character in the DCU’s slate of projects.
