He understands he’s not alone in this sentiment, mentioning fellow New England-born singer-songwriters such as Anaïs Mitchell, Ray LaMontagne, James Taylor, Grace Potter, and Phish.

“Making it in New England is challenging,” noted the founder of the Busyhead Project. “Access to live music can be limited, depending on your location. You might come from a very small town, and knowing people who have succeeded outside of that scene and have represented New England so well is really inspiring. I try to stay connected with those individuals as much as possible.”

Despite his musical journey earning him Grammy nominations and leading him on global arena tours, he remains deeply connected to his roots (as evidenced by his collaboration with New England-born Culture Pop Soda). This connection will continue to play a significant role in his musical journey ahead.

“I’m approaching my 11th or 12th year as a professional recording artist, and I’ve never truly felt a sense of purpose in the way I do now when it comes to writing about my origins,” he explained. “The inspiration runs deep in New England. There’s an abundance of lore, history, and emotion—not just from my own experiences, but within the states themselves. It’s incredibly exciting to keep tapping into that, and I’ll never grow weary of writing about New England.”
