Stars of the Modern Family show, who played siblings Alex and Luke Dunphy, are real-life roommates. The actress portraying Alex has confirmed this news, stating that it feels like their own version of a Modern Family reboot. Although the hit show concluded in 2020, their close bond has evidently remained strong off-screen.
Ariel Winter confirms she is roommates with Modern Family’s Luke actor
In a conversation with PEOPLE, Ariel Winter shared that she now rents a house with her Modern Family sibling, Nolan Gould, in Los Angeles. She said, “People ask me about a Modern Family reboot, but Nolan and I are real roommates now. So it’s like we’re having our own little Modern Family reboot, but it’s just the two of us living together. So I see him every day.”
She strongly believes that their everyday interactions, if filmed, could be enjoyable for many people. “I’m not gonna lie, when we sit there at night and we watch, like, Temptation Island together, it’s pretty hilarious. So we have thought about it. We’re just like, people would find this really funny,” she elaborated.
It’s reported that Winter secretly parted ways with longtime boyfriend, Luke Benward, in August 2025, ending their 6-year relationship. A source told PEOPLE, “They just realized after almost six years that they were better as friends.” They also claimed that their bond ended on a good note, as they still continue to be best friends and share pups.
Earlier, in a conversation with Good Morning America, Winter reflected on her close bond with Gould and their growing up together journey on the show. “He is, in my mind, 100% my brother. I love Nolan to pieces because we grew up together … just growing pains of being teenagers and kids and being so close in age, being able to relate to each other — and Rico — that’s been a beautiful thing for us,” she added.
