Spin-off show Gen V from The Boys has received disappointing news for its fans.
Created by Craig Rosenberg, Evan Goldberg, and Eric Kripke, Gen V premiered on Prime Video in September 2023. This series serves as a spin-off to The Boys, loosely based on the “We Gotta Go Now” comic book story arc by Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and John Higgins. The cast includes Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Liz Broadway as Emma Meyer, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, among others.
What is the update on Prime Video’s Gen V?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gen V has been officially canceled. This indicates that the second season of the show, set to premiere in 2025, will be its final season.
“While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys season five and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again,” Kripke and Goldberg stated.
Prime Video is currently releasing its fifth and final season of The Boys, with the first four episodes available for streaming. The fifth season will consist of eight episodes in total.
There are additional projects related to The Boys. A prequel series titled Vought Rising is anticipated to premiere in 2027, featuring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash reprising their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront. The cast also includes Mason Dye as Bombsight, Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel, and Will Hochman as Torpedo.
Moreover, another spin-off titled The Boys: Mexico was announced in November 2023. Details about this project remain limited; however, it is being developed by writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer and executive producers Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal.
The Hollywood Reporter also mentioned that “some Gen V characters are set to make appearances in the remaining episodes of The Boys.
