The wheels are turning on the Mystery Machine once again, with the iconic Scooby-Doo getting a new live-action series. Recently, the first image and plot details for the upcoming series were released for the now officially titled Scooby-Doo: Origins, with production having kicked off in Atlanta, Georgia. The new image perfectly captures the essence of the first incarnation, showcasing the new cast peeking from behind a door reminiscent of the animated originals.
The new cast in question includes Fred Jones (Maxwell Jenkins), Daphne Blake (Mckenna Grace), Velma Dinkley (Abby Ryder Fortson), and Shaggy Rogers (Tanner Hagen), with Paul Walter Hauser also confirmed as part of the ensemble. Written, showrun, and executive produced by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, Scooby-Doo: Origins is already earning plenty of excitement, especially with the talented Toby Haynes (Andor) confirmed to be directing the pilot episode. No release date has yet been announced for the adaptation.
Taking on the iconic Daphne is the hugely talented young star Grace, whose filmography so far features several impressive and underrated performances, one of which came in 2025. In a year when she was a part of an incredible six feature films, the most popular of which was perhaps the horror sequel Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, it was inevitable that other movies would fall under the radar. One of which was What We Hide, the mystery thriller that is currently proving a surprise streaming hit. At the time of writing, the film is one of the ten most-watched on Prime Video in the U.S.
