A movie by Jeremy Saulnier is always something to anticipate in my home, and we are about to get a glimpse of his latest project. A24 has released a new poster for Slayground, indicating that the action thriller is set for a January 29, 2027 release. Furthermore, the first full trailer for the film will be available tomorrow, so stay tuned!
Slayground
The film features Cory Michael Smith (Saturday Night) as a man suspected of being a mass murderer. He escapes from police custody and disappears into the haunted attraction known as Slayground, while a massive manhunt closes in around him. Sounds thrilling.
Joining Smith in the cast are Imogen Poots (Green Room), Chase Sui Wonders (I Know What You Did Last Summer), Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me), Stephen Root (Office Space), Young Mazino (Beef), Stanley Simons (The Iron Claw), James Badge Dale (The Pacific), and Matty Matheson (The Bear).
Slayground is produced and financed by A24. Saulnier serves as a producer on the film alongside Rich Peete of Neighborhood Watch, Eli Bush of Central, and his wife, Skei Saulnier of Niteowl Films. Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie of Central, Traci Carlson and Elliott Coley of Neighborhood Watch, and Macon Blair of Bonneville Pictures are executive producers.
Will It Have a Green Room Vibe?
Saulnier has hinted that Slayground will be more akin to Green Room than anything else. “I’m currently writing something that’s a little more in the Green Room universe,” he stated. “Because with Rebel Ridge, I was exploring a new side. I was just tired of everything I do being oppressive. But I’ve kinda gone back. It has to do with music and Halloween and fun stuff.”
Green Room tells the story of a punk band who find themselves under attack by neo-Nazi skinheads after witnessing a murder at a remote club. The film is an intense experience, especially with Patrick Stewart portraying the neo-Nazi leader. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend giving it a watch.
A brief teaser trailer for Slayground was released last month, but it didn’t reveal much information. I am hopeful that we will see more tomorrow.
