Here’s a comparison of how Slipknot revealed their splits with five different members throughout the years.
If there’s one thing that has been consistent with Slipknot, it’s that they’ve always had nine members. However, those members have changed significantly, especially over the last few years.
In the mid-to-late ’90s, there was a revolving door of musicians, as is typical when bands are first establishing their lineup. We will not focus on the members who were only in the band for a short period before Slipknot emerged in 1999.
Their lineup actually remained unchanged from the time that album was released until the late 2000s. It included Shawn "Clown" Crahan, Paul Gray, Joey Jordison, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Craig Jones, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root until 2010, when Gray tragically passed away at the age of 38.
After overcoming this tragedy, fans were shocked again when the band unexpectedly announced in December 2013 that they had parted ways with Jordison. Eventually, fans accepted their two new mystery members, later revealed to be Jay Weinberg and Alessandro “V-Man” Venturella.
Another five years passed without any changes to the group until they parted ways with Fehn. Since then, three more members have suddenly departed as well, with the most recent being Wilson.
