Sid Wilson of Slipknot has publicly acknowledged his departure from the band through a subtle update on his social media.
The band announced late on Friday (August 14) that they had parted ways with their longtime turntablist Sid Wilson, nearly two weeks after rumors of a potential split first emerged.
How Did Sid Wilson Acknowledge His Split With Slipknot?
Shortly after the announcement went public on Friday, Wilson updated his Instagram bio to reflect his new status.
In his profile, Sid changed his bio to indicate his former status as a member of Slipknot, tagging the band’s handle and adding text that now reads “1997-2026.”

A Timeline of Sid Wilson’s Slipknot Split
The news about the split between Wilson and Slipknot first appeared in a TMZ report on July 31. The report cited a source close to the band who revealed that Wilson had been “permanently kicked out” of the group.
Later that evening, guitarist Jim Root posted a message on Instagram Stories advising fans to question the report. “Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for a while. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information,” wrote Root.
The following day, Wilson shared a post on social media promoting his independent merchandise store. Meanwhile, TMZ spotted Wilson in Los Angeles, where he dismissed a comment by telling their reporter he was heading into church.
Subsequently, TMZ published an article citing “sources with direct knowledge” that the ousting was allegedly due to Wilson’s behavior towards his bandmates. These sources also indicated that an official announcement was expected to be made before the news was leaked prematurely.
On the same day as the second TMZ article (August 3), Kelly Osbourne shared several slides on Instagram discussing her child’s protection. Three of the five slides appeared to call out Sid Wilson, the father of her son, but were later deleted by Osbourne. Then, on August 6, a People article quoted a source stating that Osbourne and Wilson had ended their engagement.
During a weekend appearance where he co-hosted the inaugural World Scratch Invitational at the DJX Show Convention, Wilson introduced himself as “No. 0, from the world-famous Slipknot.”
Amid all the speculation, neither the band nor Wilson publicly addressed the initial TMZ report regarding his firing until Friday (August 14), when the band issued a brief statement saying, “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.” This post was deleted shortly after it was made public.
Sid Wilson’s History With Slipknot
Sid Wilson officially joined Slipknot in 1998 (though his Instagram bio disputes this widely accepted year), a year before their self-titled breakout album, but after the band was initially formed in 1995. He has remained the band’s turntablist since joining and added keyboards to his responsibilities starting in 2008.
